Honestly, spend some time with the McLaren.. It felt fun but weird to start with to me, until i realised i was completely over-driving it.

Take it to Mugello, drive it really smooth, start by braking early, let it roll into the corners off the power, really gentle throttle control out of the corners... build up slowly over a few laps. When you drive it like it wants to be driven it handles wonderfully. Overdrive it a tad too much and it's horrible, Keep building it up slowly to its limits and it rewards you with massive laptime improvements and it feels great.

I wasn't sure about the MP4 at all to start with...it felt wrong. After 5 hours with it I'm convinced its one of the best cars in the sim.

Quote from BlueFlame :12C is most definately faster than the 458 though I think.

No doubt. I did a 53.8 at Imola in the 12C in my first 5 laps. I reckon I'll go at least a second a lap quicker in the Mclaren compared to the Ferrari

Driving the 12C and the 458 back to back it's difficult to find any category where the 12C is better...

The category labelled "FUN TO DRIVE"

Took me a while to get in tune with the car, but now I'm getting there it feels much, much nicer to drive than the 458.

(and it puts to bed the "too much grip" in AC argument )

Quote from Kristi :More...lotuses...again. Why?

Because they have a load of Lotus cars to get out. As it was one of the earliest licenses announced i presume most of the lotii were finished first, so they get released first.

Whilst everyone's waiting for MP and AI may i suggest getting this live leaderboard app

http://www.assettocorsa.net/fo ... v2-live-leaderboard.3215/

Just stick your steam username in the userconfig.ini and away you go...

Currently doesn't show your actual position, just the people above and below you.. just keep lapping until you're at the top It also shows what aids are being used by your fellow competitors, so there's no hiding your lack of hardcoreness

It's being updated a lot so should be showing your position soon.

Quote from undertaker00 :You must be the biggest idiot iv ever seen in lfs community.

How stupid and out of your mind you must be to write that shit?

All the stuff you bolded in his reply was absolutely spot on. Tristan was absolutely correct.

He also voted for Radical, which immediately make him the furthest thing from an idiot

The irony of someone who can hardly string a coherent sentence together calling someone else an idiot isn't lost on me either...

Quote from anttt69 :Is it possible to play AC using a 250gts & 3.4ghz Core2 cpu? Does it utilize quad core well as im consider upgrade.

I have a dual [email protected] and a 5770. It runs well enough for hotlapping with no frills. Cant see it working with a full grid at any respectable framerate or graphical quality.

The 250 is dx10 isn't it? It's unofficially supported (via a config tweak)but may well have graphical issues and may not be supported at all in the future.

It uses all 4 cores on my brothers Core2 quad core and gets 150 FPS+ with a 7950 and a decent amount of eye candy.

It's very GPU dependant.

Quote from Fordman :
But as you mentioned, AC might be the "nutts" as people put it, but I have heard first hand from a professional "REAL" driver that it does not compare to LFS's feedback / physics or sound....

But there are plenty of reports form "REAL" drivers that say it's as close as it gets to their real cars. So i take every opinion with a large pinch of salt.

FFB is very subjective. I loved LFS, but the FFB in Ac is easily on a par and i would say better. The physics are on another level to anything on the market. And please... AC's sound is far better than LFS. A deaf person could tell you that.

I have no axe to grind with LFS whatsoever. I loved LFS, but it's old news, sims have moved on in all departments.

Here's an interesting thread from a "REAL" driver. Make up your own mind

If you want to continue this discussion, by all means lets take it to the AC thread.

Quote from Intrepid :53.2 on standard set?

Setup below

.......and i got bloody lucky in the last chicane, went in far too fast jumped the curb at a very weird angle and completely got away with it, gaining half a second on my previous best in that corner alone. It was perfectly legal, but i doubt i could repeat it if i tried a thousand times. 53.7s are far more representative of my real pace at the moment, which is why i find Kristi's lap even more baffling.

Quote from BlueFlame :That's with ABS I guess aswell. I got 1.54.8 without abs. Couldn't go any faster

Yup, I'm happy to use ABS on cars that have it in reality.

I have a real problem with the sensitivity of the brakes in the 458 without ABS. I hardly touch them and I'm locked up. A brake pressure setting in the setup would be rather useful. I've seen a lot of posts about the sensitivity of the brakes without ABS, so i guess its an issue.

Quote from BlueFlame :Well whats your Imola time then?

To suggest Kristi of doing a cheat lap is a bit... unsavoury lets say.

53.2

Quote from tristancliffe :My brain still works. I was going to check when I got home (incidentally, I was expecting crazy high speed oversteer with 16/11, as I was using ~16/14 before... but it doesn't, it's quite stable. Me no understand.)

Right! I found the problem I hadn't extracted the set from the rar.
It still showed up in the setup list and i loaded it... 6/6 ..it was clearly just loading the default set. User error! Brain fart! No wonder i was miles off the pace with it.

Nothing to see here. Move along....

Quote from Kristi :It's 16/11 indeed. I think 1.30s are easily possible with a bit more of practice.

Oh, my bad.. I'll dig out the 6/6 setup. That's done low 31's as well.

Quote from Kristi :I didn't drive 458 much in other tracks. I did some Silverstone and I was into 1.11s in a few laps, I think.

Yup, same here. Which is why i cant work out why I'm several seconds away from your time at Imola.

I don't mind not being the fastest. I dont mind being 1.5 seconds away from the top times. When it's three seconds I'm not a happy bunny

Quote from Kristi :Thanks a lot Moose ^^

No problem.

Now show us your setup and a replay for the 458@Imola

If you did that time without any cheating I'm stunned. I can get in the ballpark of all the best times I've seen for other combos, but cant get even into the 52's with that combo.

I dunno. Maybe I just don't get that car I can usually adapt to almost anything.

What times are you doing in the 458 at other tracks?

Quote from Bose321 :Don't get excited though. It didn't live up to the hype and certainly is not better than LFS.

Oh dont be so silly. AC surpasses LFS in every aspect. (well, every aspect of the features it currently has) You don't have to be some sort of AC fanboy to recognise that.

Quote from Kristi :Can you upload a replay of that please? I'm so curious... I just can't be faster with 16/14 than I am with ultralow wings... I'm losing a lot to my ghost in the first few sectors to get it back in the last alone.. Seems impossible.

Sorry, didn't save a replay.

I'll have another go later to beat my time and save one for you then.

I'm the opposite, i cant get anywhere near as fast with low wings. I was trying a set that i know can do a 31.0 that had 6/6 wings and i couldn't get any better than a 33.4 I guess it's entirely down to what setup suits your driving style.

Quote from NitroNitrous :You are free to do whatever you want, but personally, if didn't have a wheel, I'd rather do something else than simracing. I am of the opnion that when I do something I do it right or I just don't do it at all.

Same here. If I had no wheel I simply wouldn't simrace.
It doesn't feel like simracing if you're not using a wheel. It feels like gaming. No satisfaction. No point.
